Cooking is satisfying if you put all the parts together because the individual parts are not. The first part means cutting a chicken lengthwise. The second part means dredging it in flour. The third part means pouring oil into a pan. The fourth part means placing the chicken in the pan. Then there are lemons and artichokes and white wine and capers. And then there is the idea of a chicken that you saw in a cartoon. The sky was blue and he lived in a house with a bed that looked fluffy. He slept all day waiting for you to see him as real.
