It's probably not a great idea to design a book cover before you write a book, but that's what I am doing. And I designed it for all the wrong reasons: I was feeling inept in my design work, it was really muggy that night, and I found a beautiful poster in beautiful colors advertising The Thin Man way back when. I also found some wonderful process photos for Grant Wood's American Gothic, and I threw a little bit of that in there too. Which reminds me: did you know that painting is only two and a half feet tall? Finally, the "F" in there is for "fake" - but I might throw it away and put "F" in there for fabulous, because the design isn't, but everyone in it, is.
