WOODEN SPOONS


Many recipes say “Stir with a wooden spoon.” When you research why you should stir with a wooden spoon, you discover there are many reasons: wooden spoons are light; wooden spoons are non-conductive; wooden spoons won’t scratch the bottom of your pan; wooden spoons have a high heat tolerance; wooden spoons are insulated. My favorite reasons, though, are these: wooden spoons are nice to look at, and wooden spoons feel good in your hands.

Another reason: they stain easily and make you feel rustic and French, even if you are stirring your Stouffer's cheddar potato bake you just took out of the microwave.
